In 1999 Bertrand Jestaz found an agreement dating back to 1518 between Salai and King Francis I of France where Leonardo's pupil had sold to the French sovereign some paintings along with the Mona Lisa. The amount he paid for the Mona Lisa was 6250 imperial livres equivalent to $328,230 in US dollars. Yet I mentioned that Leonardo had two Madonnas with him in the pdf below. This means that Louis the XII paid him for the Mona Lisa del Prado now in Madrid 200 florins equivalent to $42,000 US dollars and that Salaì kept the better version now in the Louvre until Francis I bought it from him. Both Mona Lisa's were started mid 1503 and finished by Easter 1508(which falls on April 9th). By 1508 King Louis XII pays him for the Madrid version and he gifts the other one to Salai later on and Salai sells it in 1518 just months before da Vinci's death. .
